The team at Storm Hair & Beauty were delighted to collaborate with local tea shop the Vintage Teacup in Street on Saturday 5th April, to celebrate the cafe's first birthday and to raise valuable funds for some of Somerset's flood victims. Donations were made by generous customers who came in for a retro make-over.
Looking good ladies! Deb (left), dressed and ready for her day at the Vintage Teacup in Street, where she and the Storm team of expert stylists and therapists re-created vintage looks for the tea shop's customers.
The transformation begins, thanks to talented stylist, Kim...
...and the look is complete - very 1950's!
The team at Storm are experts at putting up hair and creating glamorous looks which many of us would struggle to do at home. If you have a party coming up, a wedding or special evening, then give the team a call and see how they can transform your hair!
Sam concentrates as she paints her client's nails in a typical 1950's shade of bubble gum pink (note how well it works with the Cath Kidson tablecloth!)
As the 1940s gave way to the 1950s, women really began to experiment and look after themselves again, after experiencing the rigours and restrictions of the WW2. Designers like Dior gave us the New Look, now that luxurious materials became more freely available, and colour was injected into design; both in terms of clothes and interiors. Make up products also became more sophisticated and more colourful.
Today we have so many opportunities to try a new trend or style and are lucky to be inspired by magazines, celebrities and designers. Our team always keep abreast of what's going on in the world of style and beauty and see a core part of our role as advising and helping women to experiment with new looks and look beautiful. And as we learnt on Saturday, we can also be influenced by the past!
